WHAT WE DO

EquiHealth Global brings health and hope to underserved communities.

We partner with churches and other faith-based organizations, medical professionals, and community volunteers to host free health fairs that provide essential medical screenings, nutritious food packages, and supportive services for individuals and families facing barriers to care.

OUR FOUNDER’S STORY

In 2009, Julius, a dedicated clinician and biomedical scientist from Kenya, began a journey. This journey would shape his own life and impact underserved communities worldwide. His unwavering passion for healthcare surpassed traditional roles. He was driven by a commitment to understanding disease progression in marginalized populations. Julius also focused on creating sustainable solutions to address their unique healthcare needs. Tragedy struck in 2013, when Julius lost his father to a sudden cardiac event following a stroke. Despite Julius’ skill as a healthcare provider, the resources available to care for his father were heartbreakingly insufficient. This devastating experience revealed the stark inequities in the healthcare system. It deepened his resolve to fight for health equity.

Motivated by this personal loss, Julius set out to create a world where healthcare access is equal for everyone. He did not want socio-economic status or geography to be a determining factor in access. Recognizing the power of collaboration and global knowledge-sharing, he immersed himself in diverse communities. He learned from their best practices and fostered innovative healthcare solutions. His efforts included organizing medical camps in underserved regions across Kenya. This included Murang’a, Kisumu, Mwingi, and Marsabit Counties. He aimed to bridge gaps in care and bring hope to those in need.

Julius had a passion for equitable healthcare. This passion led him to found EquiHealth Global. It is an organization dedicated to improving health access for underserved communities. Through initiatives like the NutriCare Program, Julius combats malnutrition in Sub-Saharan Africa. EquiHope on Wheels provides mobile screening for early detection of non-communicable diseases. Julius continues to empower individuals and communities with essential healthcare services.

Julius is now an MSc Global Health scholar and research assistant at Duke University. He leverages his academic expertise and clinical experience to address barriers to care. Julius advocates for policy changes. He also drives research on non-communicable diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa. His story is a testament to resilience, compassion, and the belief that healthcare is a right—not a privilege.

Through EquiHealth Global’s tagline, “Real People, Real Stories, Real Life,” Julius honors the memory of his father. He recognizes the countless lives touched by his work. Julius turns loss into a legacy of hope and impact.

Julius lives in Raleigh with his wife and daughter.
